Is your blog worth millions? It could be!

I recently attended a training call with one of the larger business opportunities online, where the focus of the session was blogging.  While the traing was very good and the people who were teaching, top notch, in my book, there was something interesting shared that night that I am going to share with you.

We were told a story… a true story… of a gentleman who recently sold his blog for 20 million dollars.  Yes, you heard correctly, 20 million dollars.  In numbers, that looks like $20,000,000.  Who would want to see that in their bank account?

So what does it take to create a mulit-million dollar blog?  CONSISTENCY!  There were several reasons as to why this blog sold for such an extreme amount of money.

1.)  Content:  The content created appealed to a certain target market.  It was key worded and phrased in such a way that it received large volumes of traffic from the search engines.

2.)  Comments:  The volume of comments came from a return reader base because the content of the blog was unique and helpful to the those who watched.  Helpful information brings people back to you.  That’s what you want!

3.)  Advertising:  The blog had a track record of producing consistent affiliate sales, thus proving, that the reader base had money to spend.

Bad form! I won’t name names, but beware! Keep your content unique!

There are times in your life when you need to follow your gut.  You know, that instinct that sets in the middle of your belly and tells you you “dude, (or dude-ette)… don’t do that?”  I encourage you, at all times, to listen to that.  It will probably save you a lot of heart ache, frustration and even embarrassment.

Case in point.  I recently attended a training session where I was encouraged to use content from what was supposed to be a “realiable” unique source.  Upon the investigation of one of my business partners, we found the opposite to be true.  Needless to say, all of that content has been yanked from our blogs and other resources online.

Like I said, I’m not going to name names, but BEWARE of buying and using stock content.  Most of it, as I came to find out after doing some research on my own today, even if the info is good, is being used by every Tom, Dick and Jane who is working to do the same thing you are.  To be honest, I wouldn’t even waste the time to try and manipulate it to get it passed the search engines.  The search engines won’t index the duplicate content twice, and keep it there.

Bottom line, keep your content fresh.  Even if you can only produce one blog per week, keep it unique!

Cheers!
