Alternative income solutions for people with disabilities and health conditions, in the world of home based business, by Rex Harris

October 22, 2008 rexharris Leave a comment

On October 23rd, 2008 I will be facing one the greatest challenges I’ve faced, to date, in my life. On March 27th of 1970 I was born with a defective aortic heart valve. A normal valve consists of three leaves and is considered tri-cuspid. My aortic valve is bi-cuspid, meaning there are only two leaves. This has caused a condition in my heart that requires the replacement of this valve.

The upside to all of this is the fact that, as a home business owner, even though there will be down time in the hospital, I won’t be forced to miss 6 to 8 weeks of work that I couldn’t do off line or away from the house.

Owning a home based business offers many advantages. Many of my clients are people who are working from home due to disability or other health related conditions that will not allow them to work a regular job. There is a large portion of the home business community that falls into this demographic.

As someone facing a temporary disability due to a health issue, I’m very thankful to have a full time home based business to fall back on when I return home from my surgery.

If you fall into this bracket and are in a similar situation where you are forced to work from home to earn your living, I would like to offer you a few strategies that you can use to improve the results you are seeing through your marketing efforts online.

1.) Don’t be afraid to be you! The beauty of what we do as home business rests in the fact that we are unique. However, none of us are so unique that we won’t be able to find those who can relate with us in one way or another. You will find that targeting individuals who may be dealing with the same or similar challenges, that you face, will be a win – win situation for both parties. While I don’t suggest jumping on a particular bandwagon, so to speak, I think it’s important for us to share details to the extent that people can relate with us. You will find it much easier to build a relationship with someone who can relate with on one level or another versus someone you have nothing in common with.

2.) Incorporate a “my story mentality” into your blogs, articles and any other content you create online. Always work toward the goal of sharing quality information and strategies that will be of a benefit to the reader. When someone takes information from your blog, for example, and applies what they have learned (to see it work) they will come back for more. This is a great strategy for opening the lines of traffic to your site and the development of a relationship with your reader base.

3.) Advertise on your blogs! I highly recommend joining a affiliate program (something that falls in line with the overall message on focus of your blog) that will be of interest to the reader. I then recommend writing reviews about the products you are selling on your blog. This will encourage the reader to follow the advice of someone who has use the resource in question and make the purchase so they can learn the same. You will find that if you sell a $7 to $10 ebook on your blogs, that actually work for the reader, that people will want to come to you to learn more. They will also be more willing to spend money for your products/services.

How to get better traffic results with forums and groups by Rex Harris

October 11, 2008 rexharris Leave a comment

Here are a few of the strategies I use to improve the results and traffic flow from groups and forums.

1.) Participate in the threads: If you go through the MySpace forums right now, you will see that most of the threads are just advertising and self promotion, in which no one participates. Chances are, you have found the forums here to be ineffective if you are using them for mere self promotion. Participating in relevant threads will bring more traffic through your profile, and it’s through your profile that you can direct traffic accordingly.

2.) Share information, techniques and pointers. When you share information with people that they can use to their benefit, and it works, they’re going to come back to you for more.

3.) When participating in a forum, don’t be afraid to let people know who you are. Introduce yourself to people, talk to people, get involved and be consistent.

4.) When doing business, a picture is worth a thousand words. I’m a firm believer in using a professional, legitimate image. A first impression is a lasting impression. You will find it difficult to attract money if you are dressed like a bum, have an angry look on your face, or are using a picture of pixies and fairy dust. Professionalism is huge so use it to your advantage.

5.) Don’t be overly critical. It doesn’t matter what people are doing online, even if they aren’t doing something perfect, there’s something that you can find that they have done right, or at the very least, are moving in the right direction. You’ll get much further pointing out something people are doing right than what they are doing wrong.

Forums and groups are great for driving traffic provided they are used correctly.

If you’d like to learn more on how to use forums, all over the Internet, to build your business, contact me through MySpace or Skype ID swimwithus.

Cheers!

Spam! Is your reputation in the world of Web 2.0 in jeopardy?

October 7, 2008 rexharris Leave a comment

This has been addressed more times, in the MySpace forums, than I can even count now. It appears that people still don’t understand how to use a forum (any forum) the correct way.

If you are posting anything about your business opportunity in the forums, it can be considered spam. For those that haven’t been paying attention, MySpace is laying the smack down on people who do this.

Advertising your business opportunity in the forums is a great way to kill your reputation and find yourself on the receiving end of being ignored, or even worse, getting your account closed or even banned, so make sure you are doing things the right way.

1.) Share information – if you want to build trust with people and build relationships, share! If you have a hot marketing top or trick that’s working, share the wealth. When people take it from a forum, group or blog, and it works… guess who they are coming back to for more? Remember, YOU are the product!

2.) Participate in legitimate threads – if you want to win influence here, get involved. Most of the people using these forums come once in a while, spam us, and run. If you’re going to use the forums, then participate and offer something of value.

3.) A picture is worth a thousand words – keep your profiles and pictures professional and clean. You are only going to attract at the level you project. If you want leaders who are going to help you build a quality organization, be a leader!

Make money online with your blog using affiliate programs by Rex Harris

One of the easiest ways to build long term, residual income is to advertise for other companies on your blog.  As your blog gains popularity with both people and the search engines, the traffic you receive will convert to dollars!

One of the keys to making money on the Internet is to take advantage of every conceivable money making option that you can implement that doesn’t take away from the marketing and promotion of your primary busienss.  Thus, affiliate advertising can net big money!

One of the easiest places to get set up as a affiliate is Amazon.com.  By simply copying and pasting codes into your blogs and websites, you can earn a percentage of the sales generated through your site.  When you begin to receive large amounts of traffic, based on the content you are creating,  and it becomes lucritive!

Is your blog worth millions? It could be!

October 3, 2008 rexharris Leave a comment

I recently attended a training call with one of the larger business opportunities online, where the focus of the session was blogging.  While the traing was very good and the people who were teaching, top notch, in my book, there was something interesting shared that night that I am going to share with you.

We were told a story… a true story… of a gentleman who recently sold his blog for 20 million dollars.  Yes, you heard correctly, 20 million dollars.  In numbers, that looks like $20,000,000.  Who would want to see that in their bank account?

So what does it take to create a mulit-million dollar blog?  CONSISTENCY!  There were several reasons as to why this blog sold for such an extreme amount of money.

1.)  Content:  The content created appealed to a certain target market.  It was key worded and phrased in such a way that it received large volumes of traffic from the search engines.

2.)  Comments:  The volume of comments came from a return reader base because the content of the blog was unique and helpful to the those who watched.  Helpful information brings people back to you.  That’s what you want!

3.)  Advertising:  The blog had a track record of producing consistent affiliate sales, thus proving, that the reader base had money to spend.

Rex Harris congratulates Danica Patrick on first Indy Car WIN!

April 21, 2008 rexharris 1 comment

Both my wife and I have been huge fans of Danica from the time we saw her compete in her first Indianapolis 500.  We have watched and listened, for years, as critics and commentators doubted her abilities and questioned, “could she ever win?”  Many said no, it will never happen.

Never say never!  Here’s proof that it doesn’t matter whether you are male or female, black or white, or whatever you are in physical for… champion is in the heart… the relentless pursuit of that which drives us to be better than we are, day after day, month after month, year after year!

Congratulations Danica, you have earned this!  You now stand with the elite and we believe that with this win you will gain confidence and momentum!

Go get em’ at Indy!  We believe!

Cheers!

Why SPAM will destroy your reputation online by Rex Harris

April 19, 2008 rexharris 3 comments

The further I delve into the world of Web 2.0, the more I see the spam issue for what it is.  It’s an epedimic of ignorance, fear and the inability to allow ones mind to understand that there is more than one way to accomplish and objective.

Most of the people I find using spam are people who don’t know any better.  They are being educated by people who don’t know how to market… thus… an industry of people looking for answers simply does what they believe is right… tarnishing reputations, losing momentum and, essentially, killing their marketing career before they even get started.

Spam, in it’s simplest definition, is providing ANYONE who has not ASKED with information concerning your business, opportunity or commercial interest.  If you are sending messages, posting blogs, or participating in forums with content as described here, you are wrong, and you need to stop.

I see so many people come so close to doing things right on the social networks, only to blow it by including some long affiliate link at the endIf you believe that a real entrepreneur is going to click your link and join your opportunity simply because you “think” it “might” be great, think again.  If you are lucky, you are going to get a program hopper or two, at best… who will join you… generating false enthusiasm (making you think you did right) only to watch them quit 30 days later because you lacked the communication skills to empower the person who joined you to become successful.

Twice today I have been contacted by people who call themselves “business people” with message like “I don’t know if you are looking or not, but I think that “so and so” is going to be huge and thought you would want to take a look.”  NO!  I don’t want to take a look!  I don’t care!  I am 100% focused and dedicated to my business, my mentors and coaches, my team, my students and my mission… anything else is a distraction and I am not interested, and neither should you be.  You should be spending your time educating others so they will be attracted to you!  That way, you can use your knowledge to leverage people into your organization/company and educate them correctly.

Think about how dumb this would be.  Imagine that you owned a deli offline.  Your deli is the doing very well… you are sellling more sandwiches and salads than anyone else on the block.  The next thing you know, someone selling hamburgers and fries opens up down he street, comes to you and says “hey, how would you like to take the focus off of your business and join with me… it’s going to be big and great!”  You would think that person was a lunatic!  Does it really make anymore sense to do the same thing online?

I know this sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.  I want to see people succeed and that’s not going to happen by publishing bullsh** information that isn’t going to instruct others as to the correct way to do things.

People don’t care abour your business, opportunity, product or marketing system.  That’s why you are sitting there, at your computer, scratching your head and wondering why no one is signing up with you.  If you can’t lead people to the promised land, they aren’t going to join you and stay.  You have to empower others and lead by example.

When you understand how to meet the emotional needs of others, and what they are, you will then hold one of the keys to success in the home business industry.

This type of leadership requires education.  When you have the ability to take someone into a community like MySpace, Direct Matches, Wowzza, NING… or any of the others, and show them how to generate traffic, leads and sales, then you will have the power to build an organization that will help you become successful as you empower them to do the same.

Don’t advertise where advertising isn’t welcome… and don’t spend any more money on advertising until you have taken the time to find a mentor who is qualified to help you do things the right way.

Natural relief for gastric reflux, hiatal hernia and stomach acid by Rex Harris

April 1, 2008 rexharris Leave a comment

While teaching my students to finer points of creating a blog tonight, we chose a natural substance, using basic Google search, that would help us find a target market for our product.

One of my students had contacted me earlier today with concerns about blogging, and how to accomplish this task without risking the lost of created information do to spam complaints and posting guidelines.

The chances, that the two paragraphs above probably mean little to you because you are here looking for a natural remedy for gastric reflux, hiatal hernia or stomach acid.

Back in October of 1994, I had to have a Nissen procedure for gastric reflux because the medication I was taking were no longer having an effect.

Today, with what we have learned about natural remedies, there are several products available today that contain ingredients that will help, reduce and even eliminate reflux from excess stomach acid.

In my studies with my students this evening, we used a keyword selector tool to find the benefits of the ingredients of our product to our potential consumer.

What we learned about our prodcut is that it contains an ingredient called Amalaki, which according to Internet informational sources, is a great contributor in the relief of gastric reflux, hiatal hernia and stomach acid.

Multi-level marketing strategies using social networks by Rex Harris

March 31, 2008 rexharris 1 comment

If you and I are anything alike. you have a passion for this the Internet marketing industry.  Chances are, you have probably seen people come and go from your organization, just like I have.  The main reason that happens is lack of the right training

Finding a sponsor, in the world of MLM, that will help you at all is hard enough.  Finding one who actually has the knowledge to help you succeed is a task next to impossible anymore.  Most MLM‘ers, who have had any success, will probably have ties to old school marketing tactics… and that is a frustration that you do not need.

Here are some helpful tips for finding and becoming a good sponsor

1.)  Find and become a teacher.  There aren’t to many champions in life that didn’t have the help of a good coach, mentor or trainer.  Your future growth will depend upon your willingness to learn and, then, teach.

2.)  Put leaders on your front line.  You wouldn’t start a business without hiring qualified employees and managers… why would you build the front line of any matrix without leadersBusiness is businessonline business is the way of the future and there is no room for half a**ed recruiting effors.  Find people who can do the job.  Anything less is desperate and bad business, in my opinion.

3.)  Don’t be desperate, even if it means putting your online businesss of until a time when you can begin comfortably.  I’ve had people call me (true story) and tell me that they house was going to be reposessed the next day and what can I do to make $1200 by tomorrow.  If you are looking to the Internet to get out of a financially desperate situation, now is not the time for you to start.  You can’t start a successful online business without investing in it.  Don’t rob Peter to pay Paul… work hard to get what you need to start and do it the right way.  The greatest victories in life come after fierce battles.

Social networks like Direct Matches, MySpace, Yuwie and more are great places to find leaders to build your home based business, mlm opportunity or affiliate program.

Use the profiles of other Internet marketers and business opportunity seekers to qualify leaders for your business.  This will build a stronger downline and keep you in business through your retirement years and beyond.

Become an effective leader to decrease program hopping and attrition.  Using social communities, you can profile the beahvior of the people you bring into your business much better than just chasing leads.
